Caitlin's Wish is based on a true story.
'Life is good for Caitlin, until her father becomes disabled.
Everything changes in Caitlin’s life and she struggles to accept what has happened to her family.
She can’t let go of the life she knew before.
It seems so unfair!
“Why me?” she cries, “Why MY Dad?”
She feels so sad and alone.
She doesn’t want to upset her family by telling them how she feels.
Instead she tells all her troubles to the little robin who sits on her windowsill.
Rufus the robin has a plan though!
He arranges a magical trip to Fairyland that will change her life forever.
This is the story of how Caitlin comes to terms with her Dad’s disability, and learns to be happy again.'
“Caitlin’s Wish” was written by Victoria Taylor for her daughter Adele-Caitlin. She was only 2 yrs old when her Dad was diagnosed with a rare brain condition called IH. Initially Adele -Caitlin coped well because she knew no different. However when she started school, she realized that her life was different.
She became a very sad little girl.
She was too young to access the support networks for young carers, so Victoria wrote this book to help Adele-Caitlin see life from a different perspective.
After reading the book she learned to look for the things that her Dad could do, rather than dwell on what he couldn’t do anymore.
By focusing on the positive elements in her life, it made it easier to cope with the negative.
Caitlin's Wish has been beautifully illustrated by talented artist Claire Wiles and published in the hope that it might help others.
25% of the royalties from every book sold will be going to Crossroads Care and the IH research Foundation.

When we met, I was 14. Now, I'm going on 16 and it's really crazy how much I have changed since then. I am writing to you because the day after we met, you gave me your book, Drama is Optional. I started reading it back then, but got extremely caught up in school and I didn't do much of any reading for the next year. A 2010 Mom's Choice Award winner, Aurora of the Northern Lights combines a story of adventure, sprites and magical charms with a subtle message of tolerance. The book follows the journey of Aurora, who is left alone and friendless after losing her parents. But Aurora isn’t the same as everybody else, and as she sets out alone, she finds it hard to find anyone who cares about her story⎯even at Christmastime⎯because of her differences.
As her trek continues, Aurora receives three special gifts to keep her safe, along with important clues about her true home. Before it’s over, she’ll encounter a host of bizarre-looking creatures until she winds up at the location of the world’s most famous bearded man. And Santa’s workshop might just be the place Aurora has been searching for...
Kids are sure to respond to the adorable figure of Aurora, whimsically drawn elves and other creatures, as well as Hardin’s lyrical prose. Parents and educators will appreciate the important message of tolerating all cultures, which is made without hitting kids over the head with it.
The book’s compelling message and gorgeous artwork impressed author Greg Elliot. “Aurora of the Northern Lights could become for a new generation what The Night Before Christmas has been before it: a seasonal classic,” he said.
