When you vote we ask you to type in some random letters to make sure you are a real person and not a spammer. We have noticed that the AOL browser does not like our security box at times. If you experience trouble, please email Phil Davis at phil@authorsonthenet.com and he will make sure your vote gets counted. Let him know what author you are voting for and what comments you have about the book.

Once you vote for a book, you will see a message that says, "Your changes have been saved." This confirms your vote has been counted. The total vote count for a book is the number next to the stars in parenthesis, i.e. (12). If you feel your vote has not been counted for some reason, please feel free to email us at phil@authorsonthenet.com and we'll make sure your vote is counted.

Yes. Please vote for as many books as you like, but you may only vote once for each book. The system will not allow multiple votes from the same IP address. What this means is that if you use your compay's internet connection to vote for a book and then ask a co-worker to vote, your co-worker will not, in most cases, be able to vote from the same company internet connection. He or she will need to go home or to a coffee shop or some other internet connection. While this IP address control can be an inconvenience for some voters, this control is critical to the integrity of the contest.

The Wake Up Celebrity Author book contest is not affiliated with Amazon, Barnes & Noble or other major best-selling book services.

Most voters will be directed to an author's book page via a direct link provided by the author. Another way to find a book is to type in the book's title or other keywords in the search bar in the upper right hand corner of the home page.

Books are judged by the author's fans. Fans rate the author's book cover, the title and the short summary the author writes. The summary you write is very important as many new fans will not have read your book, but the summary gives fans a "taste" of your writing style and the message of your book. You can use the summary space to write a short synopsis of your book or you can copy and paste passages from your book.

When you submit your book, you will begin receiving weekly emails with great tips on how to get more people to vote for your book. The number one way to get thousands of votes is to send out emails to your current fan base asking them to come vote for your book. Be sure to ask your fan base to ask their friends to come and vote. Kurt Behm, who won the summer 2009 contest, asked his fan base to come and review his book rather than to vote for his book and he claims this tactic helped him win the contest.

The second best way to garner votes is to use social media tools like Facebook, Twitter, your blog, Dig and hundreds of other sites to encourage people to come vote for your book. To learn more about using social media to promote your book, visit our sponsor's site by clicking here.

Yes. If your book is available on AmazonTM and/or Barnes and Noble.comTM, you can create a direct link to these sites so people can purchase your book. During the summer 2009 contest, authors sold over 100 books with one author selling 25 copies of his book. One of the great benefits of the contest is the ability to ask fans to come vote for your book rather than asking them to come buy your book. But once a fan is exposed to your book, he or she may be compelled to get a copy and we've made it very easy for them to do so.

As part of our site control and testing, we will from time-to-time list books by our sponsors. However, these books are not eligible to win any prizes.

By running a focused and comprehensive direct mail campaign targeting people interested in the specific genre your book is in. We invite these people to come and buy your book on a specific date to push your book to a higher rank than other books in your genre. We have put over 20 books on the Barnes and Noble.comTM  best-seller list and understand how to run these types of campaigns.

The Author Platform is an online coaching program that gives authors a complete social media book marketing program. The four modules include driving more traffic to your blog, selling on Amazon, running digital book parties, getting publicity, running book tours and other tactics. Click here to learn more.

Our primary push is to get an author's book on the top 100 list on Barnes and Noble.comTM. We favor Barnes and Noble.com as it is both an online retailer and the largest bricks and mortar retailer of books.

The author with the most votes by March 31, 2010 will have his or her book placed on the Barnes & Noble.comTM best-seller list, a $12,000 value. The author with the second most votes receives a cash prize of $500.00 and authors coming in third, fourth and fifth place each receive $50.00.

Our sponsor, Wake Up Live the Life You Love, has placed over 20 books on the Barnes and Noble.comTM best-seller list. The cost of this program is $12,000. One of the most recent books to hit number 83 on the Barnes and Noble.comTM best-seller list was Kurt Behm, winner of the Summer 2009 Wake Up Celebrity Author contest.
